Preparing your home for Venture can make the process faster, more efficient and much less stressful. At Venture, we believe that well-thought-out preparation helps the move go as planned. From packing your small items, to disconnecting and emptying kitchen appliances, these tips will guarantee a seamless and cost-effective experience.
Venture provide a highly affordable moving service based on 2 factors, you provide the man power (2 adults), and that you’re fully prepared in advance of our arrival.
If you provide no adults and aren’t prepared, the cost will rise considerably, because the price you pay is partly charged by the hour.
Preparing to Move
A list keeps everything organized as you get ready for the moving day. It helps you remember important tasks, from decluttering to organizing services. Writing things down makes sure you don’t miss essential steps.
Include packing, labelling, and contacting the Electric, Gas, Telephone and Council about your move. An organized list ensures efficient progress and moderates unnecessary last-minute anxiety.
Sorting Items
Before moving, take time to sort your possessions. Split items into categories such as keep and throw away. Items that you no longer need, consider discarding, as this provides more space in our vehicle, and reduces the cost of your move.
It also means less packing for you and makes the move easier for everyone.
Labels Help Find Items Later
Labelling makes it easier for you when it’s time to unpack, you’ll know which boxes go where. Be sure to write clearing on each box, with contents and room names. Use different coloured marker pens, black for most, red for fragile, this will mean we’ll take extra care in handling these items.
Packing Essentials
Use a special box for must-have-items, include items such as mobile-charger, snacks and drinks, soap, phone, money, wallet and keys etc. Keep this box out of rooms where items are being moved to the vehicle, and that it is loaded last.
Simple tips like this, will mean no matter what, you’ll have the most essential items close to hand, so if your move completes late into the day, there’ll be no need to search though boxes for your essentials.
Kitchen Appliances
Disconnect and thoroughly clean all kitchen appliances before the day you move. Remove food from fridges and freezers and be sure to protect parts such as trays or shelves to avoid damage, you can use packing tape for this. Washing machines and dishwashers need to be drained to prevent leaking.
Take apart Furniture
Dismantling large furniture items makes it much easier to move goods, they’re easier for people to carry, and they take up less space in the vehicle. Removing table legs, bed frames, and sofa cushions etc lowers the risk of damaging walls and doors. Keep screws and small parts in a small and clearly labelled box, to avoid losing them.
Routes to and from the Vehicle
Make sure all routes to our vehicle, both in and outside your property, are clear. Remove any obstructions like clutter, mats, plants. Make sure that all walkways throughout your home are easily accessible and can be travelled through without obstruction.
Doing this ensures our people can manoeuvre larger / heavier items safely, and without delay.
Cluttered walkways increase the risk of accidents happening.
Tell your Neighbours
Let your neighbours know you’re moving, in this way, everyone knows what’s happening, i.e. keeping space for our removal vehicle.
Polite engagement with neighbours will reduce the risk of issues on the day, ensuring that your move runs more efficiently, and while you’re there, ask if they can help for an hour or two!
If required, add bollards outside your property.
